Who we are
Point of View was founded by Dr. Carolyn Edwards Basiliere, an applied workplace and clinical psychologist with over two decades of experience. Carolyn helps leaders and professionals in high-stakes, high-stress work, build psychologically healthy support structures within their organization.

Our Philosophies
Predictable Outcomes, Preventable Challenges
We already know that certain professions are emotionally challenging, inherently high-risk for stress related difficulties. Over time, stress manifests as declining mental and physical health, deteriorating attitudes, strained family relations, increased substance use, mood disorders, PTSD and even suicide. If we can predict these outcomes, why wait until they occur to act?
Burnout: Too Late to Fix When It Hits
During my time as a psychologist working with professionals on high stress missions or exposed regularly to life threatening or traumatic situations, I witnessed firsthand the consequences of identifying workplace burnout or stress-related disorders only after they had taken hold. By the time someone stops showing up for work or their productivity plummets, the damage is often done—both to the individual and the organization.
Safeguards Aren't Optional
Consider this: we wouldn't send construction workers into a construction zone without hard hats, or football players onto the field without helmets. Similarly, we shouldn't expect professionals in high-stress roles to perform without safeguards for their mental, physical, and social well-being. These individuals are the backbone of our organizations, often demonstrating extraordinary commitment to work that takes an extraordinary toll.
A Safer Future Starts Today
In the future, we will look back on this era—when safeguards for mental wellness were optional or overlooked—the same way we now view cars without seatbelts or airbags: as outdated and unnecessarily risky. It's time to prioritize proactive, embedded mental wellness strategies that protect our workforce and honor their dedication.
